Samsung LED TV Is Booming
The television maker Samsung Electronics surpassed its own expectations for LED TV sales for the year 2009. It sold 2.6 million units, which is 25% above its original goal of 2 million for the year. The LED televisions’ remarkable performance and their successful marketing and promotions are to blame! Samsung’s expectations for 2010 are higher, so we can look forward to seeing a further increase in the LED TV’s status, with Samsung leading the race.
To better understand the innovations with LED TVs, the advancement was made possible by the use of LEDs instead of the usual cold cathode fluorescent lamps or CCFLs. The LEDs are superior over CCFLs in that they provide better image displays. The colour gamut, or the array of colours which can be reproduced, is increased through LEDs. Even the contrast ratios are more developed, which allow for more dazzling white, and darker black images. Of course, added advantages include slimmer TV sets as well as reduced power use.
In 2009, Samsung LED television sets were offered in 32 to 55 inches. Now the LED TV series 6, 7, and 8 ranges are set to be developed in 2010 for a choice of screen sizes to be put forward from 19 to 65 inches. This is according to Samsung, which intends to increase their LED television sales by up to four times in the coming 12 months. As they make available new improvements, there will be an extensive selection of TV sets to choose from. It looks like the LED LCD televisions are going to replace the standard CCFL TVs as the mainstream television of consumers in the near future.
So the HD television business seems to be moving as swift as ever. Would you believe that is even before you think about the impact of 3D television, 3D gaming, organic LED TV displays, and other technologies that are coming into view are going to have in the coming year?
